Three years ago I fled NOLA from Hurricane Katrina....This is my story....Day 1

I woke that morning and got my laptop, some shirts and shorts, and my cd case for the ride to Houston. We generally stay in town for Hurricanes around a category one but this one was big and it was going to give me a long weekend off from work. I locked my door and got into my car to drive to work. Of course my restaurant was still open on Hurricane day! When I got to work I let my bosses know that I was evacuating and said goodbye to some co-workers. That was when I said something profetic that I still remember vividly. "This is the one that will take out NOLA....have a good life guys". It was something that everyone jokes about and I guess that I was joking too but it still bothers me.
The roads were packed. Tens of thousands were evacuating. It took me 3 hours to get out of New Orleans and another 15 to get back to Houston, a drive that usually took me 6 hours. I stayed in touch with my friends while I was heading out of town and listened to the radio for updates. When I got home I passed out from exhaustion. I was still at this point under the impression that I was going home. THe next few days would change.
Tomorrow....Day 2

Im looking into this Digg Thing...If you like it tel me about it

Just found this and it looks really interesting.

What is Digg?

Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. From the biggest online destinations to the most obscure blog, Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by our users. You won’t find editors at Digg — we’re here to provide a place where people can collectively determine the value of content and we’re changing the way people consume information online.

Take a Quick Tour of Digg

How do we do this? Everything on Digg — from news to videos to images to Podcasts — is submitted by our community (that would be you). Once something is submitted, other people see it and Digg what they like best. If your submission rocks and receives enough Diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of our visitors to see.

And it doesn’t stop there. Because Digg is all about sharing and discovery, there’s a conversation that happens around the content. We’re here to promote that conversation and provide tools for our community to discuss the topics that they’re passionate about. By looking at information through the lens of the collective community on Digg, you’ll always find something interesting and unique. We’re committed to giving every piece of content on the web an equal shot at being the next big thing.

Twitter me!

Diaroogle.com .... The best thing to hit NYC ever

If you have ever been in NYC you know that public toilets can be few and far between in areas. I know that I have a mental note of all of the Starbucks in the places I go (btw the only reason I go to Starbucks is to take a leak). This new website, which you should have on your phone, is great. Check out Diaroogle.com and enjoy the freedom to find a bathroom that is close, clean, and free!

New IPOD Nano's rolling out September the 9th

I think that it looks pretty slick and I cant wait to see more about it. I like the rounded screen and edges. It kinda looks similar to how the MacBook air looks. Also stayed tuned for itunes 8.0 next month. 8.0 is supposed to have a new feature that reads your library and makes music suggestions for you based on what you have. Sounds pretty cool. I want to credit Kevin Rose for this info. I heard it on this last weeks episode of TWIT (This week in Tech).

A movie that you might have missed

But looks pretty funny.

I want you all to watch this...I still grieve for my baby

I left New Orleans the day of the storm and I ended up in New York City a week later. I won't ever forget everything and everyone that I lost in that storm. I won't forget the life that I lost and had to rebuild all over. As the anniversary nears I hope that we all take a step back and remember that time. I hope that you remember the people that died, the overwhelming heartache, and everyone that still struggle to this day. Most of all I hope you remember how your government failed its people. We have the power to change the way things run. Remember New Orleans. Remember what you were doing while people suffered.

Trouble the water Film

Of course..

I would love to meet the dumb ass that would buy this.

In case you didn't know already

So the Bob Saget roast is going to be coming up soon and if you thought that he was just the wholesome Full House guy then you really don't know the real Bob Saget. Check him out in his segment from the aristocrats movie.

I never had any doubt

Bigfoots LIVES!!! or...well...he did live until these guys killed him. I wonder if he was as cool as the Jack Links Beef Jerky Commercials. Maybe that is what happened here. These guys played a harmless prank on Bigfoot like putting Saran Wrap on his toilet and Bigfoot goes Ape shit and hurts them. Well they had to kill him after that. Humans CAN NOT let animals get away with being animals. I wish I was there when they busted a cap in his ass. PLOP PLOP.

Memory Lane

I was going through a bit of nostalgia yesterday and I wanted to see if anyone else remembered these shows.

The Furby Project - Death by Drill

Does Anybody remember the Furby? O yeah you do....wanna see it die? I love when he says "Oh OOO" after getting drilled in the head.

The Best Beer Pour I've ever had

Its always great when you can wake up in the morning, say o...8 or 9 o'clock in the morning, and roll to the side of your bed and take a sip of the half empty beer that you left from last night. It soothes your hangover a bit until you take a shot of Beam....and then your eyes straighten out and you get out of your boxers and into your Burkenstocks. Then you get up and smoke a half a pack of cigarettes and a half dozen Berliner Pilsners before heading out on a day called May Day or May 1st, and you wonder about the day. Will this be the day that i get a perfect pour by a 12 year old?....just maybe and here is the picture below. Her mother tried and made a foamed mess of my beautiful beer but the second string came in and picked up the slack. I was drunk already but it still seemed unreal to get a beer from a kid on a packed street.....awesome. Berlin is one of the best cities in the world and this proves it.

It looks like Barney the Dinosaurs Testicle

This is guy is pretty funny. If you have ever played the regular Nintendo and played a game that sucked horribly (which is probably ever person alive) then this guy is for you. The angry nintendo nerd reviews shitty games that we all hated. This one reviews Mckids ("its just like an infinite turd coming out my ass, like an infinite rope") but I would also suggest that you check out the Bible games too.

This Posts for you.

A recent study was just released by a very reputable institution that unlocks the male brain. They (the highly esteemed scientists) have leaked a diagram of what the male brain thinks about from day to day.

And I was lucky enough to find a new man product that just may change your life. I'm thinking about buying a couple of cartons of the bacon.

I knew the housing market was bad but...wow!

If you want a really cheap large house then you need to go to Detroit. This site just proves that it just may have the cheapest houses in the country. Who knows how dangerous the neighborhood is though. It just blows my mind that you can buy a 3500 square foot house for only 20,000 dollars. MY GOD! This may be a stupid post but it interests me....and I would love to see a cheaper house anywhere. Check out the 9,000 dollar house. Cheap Detroit house.

MOJO keeps putting out gold

I wasnt sure about this show when I first heard of the concept but it really works. These guys go around and bet money on anything. And it turns out that they are actually pretty funny.

PICTURE OF THE DAY

No way I'm eating there!

Best Toy I've ever seen

In keeping with the Olympic spirit this week....

I have decided to show how Brooklyn celebrates the Olympics. And of course...its the Hipster Olympics!

I miss NOLA...my first love

SO the 3rd anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is coming up at the end of the month as well as my third year here in New York City after I left it NEw Orleans. I love that city and I always will. Some of my favorite memories were hanging out in dive bars away from the tourist traps of downtown and drinking until the sun would come up with my friends. One of my favorite bars was Ms. Mae's (Check out their wall of shame) in the garden district and whenever I hear this song it bring me back to a 4a.m. night I once had there. It was one of the best nights of my life. Enjoy.

Come see great new music this weedend

The All Points West festival starts this Friday. Its close to the city and includes a pretty good line up. Check out the site and hopefully you can make it there. Im gonna try and make Sunday.

I love anything that involves Zombies, Especially this game! Check it out.

LAST STAND 2
There is Something very fulfilling about emptying an UZI into a Zombies head. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I haven't beat the game yet but I'm sure I will soon. Enjoy

How many Douchebag ladies trying to buy an illegal handbag can you fit into a van?

My god its like clowns coming out of a car.....O wait.....yeah it is a bunch of clowns.

Gotta loves those Germans

If you have ever been to Berlin you know that people don't like to pick up their dogs shit so you really gotta be careful were you walk. This is a great picture that I am guessing the owner of the dog laid down to warn people of the impending doom. You have to give it to him, I know he didn't pick it up but he really gave a nice warning.
I would love to use something like this here in New York city but its hard to find someone leaving their dogs crap on the sidewalk. Anyway, the sign translates to "Caution, Fresh Shit!"

A pretty sick Bee Gees Remix

Great Fortune Cookie

In case you needed more reasons to hate the NYPD...Here you go

Friday, August 1, 2008

How did you get the beans above the frank.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and old (i know) but still crazy funny.

Canal Street is a big Diarrhea stain on the city, or (thank you NYPD)

So this Blog post comes after many many many weeks of trying to pursue justice on my (our) part. We called the cops and 311 and we chased the tourist and sellers off of our area but they still came back. Its a blackmarket industry and i know that there is money to be made but seriously NYPD lift a FINGER OUT OF YOUR ASS AND STOP SNIFFING IT>>>>AND DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!! I will post pictures in the coming days of bribes taken by the NYPD from illegal bag sellers. And if it continues I will start a "BagSeller of the week" post to focus on the Douchebags that commit this crime and the Martha Stewart/Oprah Winfrey Southern Yokels that Buy from them. JUST AS A NOTE (EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THAT BAG IS FAKE WITH THE PAYLESS SHOES AND WALMART T-SHIRT THAT YOU ARE WEARING......THANKS FOR SUPPORTINg CHILD LABOR YOU DOUCHBAGS.)

BEST SHOW ON TV PERIOD!!!!!

I don't have to say anything but get MOJOtv if you dont have it already. I REALLY WISH I HAD THIS JOB...............I REALLY WISH.

UPDATE........SMURFS SPOTTED

I was so lucky to catch this photo. I won't disclose the location because I don't want Gargamel to know were i found him. I know that you Chucklers wont tell him but....

Another Great Remix

Ok so these guys are fucking crazy great! If you havn't checked them out, DO IT NOW. Ratatat is two guys that make great music. Enjoy this remix.

I'd Eat That.

So I used to be a vegan a long time about and was vegetarian for about 7 years. BUT NOW..I LOVE BEING A CARNIVORE and I found a pretty cool site that you can find some exotic meat and insects to order and eat. I personally suggest the curried alligator.
But if you are more of an insect person you should check out the Mopani worms. MMMMMMMMMMMM... In any case you should check out Edible.com cause its pretty damn cool. On another note, my cousin is a forest firefighter and just got back from a fire. I suggest you go to her team website and check it out, the pictures are pretty damn gnarly. Chears Chucklers.
